Dr Katie Barber

As an accredited menopause specialist and GP with a special interest in gynaecology, I am passionate about ensuring women are able to access high quality, evidence based advice and care. Having qualified from the University of Oxford in 2002, I developed a passion for women’s health and undertook training in gynaecology and contraception during my GP training gaining the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health in addition to Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners. My enjoyment of gynaecology continued beyond general practice and I was fortunate to be able to work in Urogynaecology and Menopause services in Oxford. I gained the Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care from the British Menopause Society in 2019 becoming an accredited Menopause Specialist and Menopause trainer, and subsequently led the NHS Menopause Service in Oxford offering specialist menopause services for women in Oxfordshire and beyond. I am a member of the British Menopause Society and teach health care professionals from medical students to hospital consultants to improve knowledge of the menopause. I am now the Clinical Lead for Community Gynaecology in Oxfordshire and continue to provide specialist Menopause services privately for women across the South East.
